Jeff Wacker accepted the Runza award with his wife, Jo. The couple moved to Fremont in 1988 to take over the downtown Runza restaurant, and then opened a second location on East 23rd Street in 1997.

"I want to first thank the Chamber for recognizing businesses such as mine," he said. "We work a lot of hours and sometimes you don't know whether or not you're being recognized for what you attempt to do."

He specifically recognized his store managers, Kori Miller and Nuria Arbaugh.

"Together they've given us 29 years of their lives to this point," he said.

Jeff Wacker, area manager for Fremont's two Runza restaurants and another in Bennington, said his company being named the Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year for businesses with 25 or fewer employees, is evidence that the Disney program was worth it.

Runza will receive the award during the Chamber's annual Membership Awards Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Fremont Opera House. The Fremont Tribune sponsors the award.

Logan View's school board has named the district's next superintendent.

The board announced Monday that it picked Jeremy Klein to replace Steve Wilson, who is retiring.

"Obviously I'm very excited about it," Klein said this morning. "I'm excited about the opportunity to be part of a district like Logan View and to lead a lot of very talented and committed people. I'm a little bit humbled by being given the opportunity, but I'm happy and excited to take it on."
